Oxoid (part of Thermo Fisher Scientific) is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and distributors of microbiological culture media and other diagnostic products. With wholly owned offices in 16 countries and specialist distributors in most of the rest of the world.
The web site, which is maintained and developed by ourselves, is a complex database driven hive of information for Microbiologist. The products section is controlled by a matrix which guides users through the product ranges. When a user selects the detailed information for a specific product, the system informs them of the additional products that need to be used with the chosen product, and gives suggestions for alternative products. It is this functionality that gives the Oxoid web site a distinct marketing advantage over the web sites of Oxoid’s competitors.
The news section is used to drive the front end of the site. Each press release can be related with multiple products, thus giving total integration across the content of the site.
The site currently has over 5,500 pages of valuable information all interrelated using the database matrix.
